Heading North out of Deniliquin, you will find the authentic Hay Plains. Although it is listed as one of the 3 flattest places on earth, it definitely does not mean there is nothing to see. This vast expanse of saltbush and land is 100% worth taking a drive down.
History and Heritage
The town of Hay originated in 1840 as a coach station known as Lang’s Crossing Place. It was surveyed in 1858 and became a town the following year, named for John Hay, a district parliamentary representative.
